    Targeted Fibroid Treatment

The Sonata treatment device combines a high-resolution intrauterine ultrasound probe for imaging with a handpiece for scalable volumetric radiofrequency ablation for targeted treatment of symptomatic fibroids.

    1. See: Fibroids are located from inside the uterus.
    2. Target: Ablation is planned using the SMART Guide, a graphical real-time overlay on the ultrasound image. This includes several safety features and does not require any manual measurements.
    3. Treat: Needle electrodes are inserted into the indicated location of the fibroid and RF-energy is delivered for volumetric ablation.

    The Sonata System1

The Sonata treatment device consists of a reusable ultrasound probe connected to a single-use handpiece that delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy to ablate fibroids transcervically. Additional components include a cart, RF generator, a SMART tablet, SMART OS guidance software and accessories.

Setting Margins of Ablation in Real Time

The SMART OS guide technology overlays graphical indicators on the ultrasound image to help target fibroids and accurately position the introducer and needle electrodes, while the ablation zone and thermal safety border help protect adjacent tissue.1

    Articulating Ultrasound Tip

The three-position articulating ultrasound tip features an imaging surface that adjusts from 0° to 45° or 60°, providing a 114° field of view.

Ablation Zone and Thermal Safety Border

The red inner ellipse indicates the average region of tissue ablation. The green outer ellipse indicates the distance at which tissue is safe from the potential of thermal damage.

    Volumetric Ablation

The Sonata system provides a 40-fold range from the smallest to the largest ablation volume. The thermal safety border adjusts automatically in relationship to the ablation zone.

    Extensive Ablation Volume Range

7 needle electrodes deliver tailored radiofrequency energy to ablate and treat symptomatic uterine fibroids.
