Sonata® Fibroid Ablation System
Treat symptomatic uterine fibroids with intrauterine ultrasound combined with radiofrequency ablation.
An Incisionless Fibroid Solution
Offer your patients an incisionless, uterine-sparing fibroid treatment with the Sonata System. The real-time intrauterine ultrasound and proprietary SMART OS™ technology enables precise targeting of submucosal, intramural and most subserosal fibroids.1
Access without Incisions
Ablate a wide range of fibroids in a single, incisionless, transcervical procedure.
Visualise in Real-Time
Locate fibroids with an intrauterine ultrasound probe.
Treat with Precision
Target and treat fibroids with controlled ablations using SMART OS technology.
Improving Patient Care is Within Your Control
For many women, the diagnosis and treatment of uterine disorders is a long, painful and frustrating journey. Our team pioneers gynaecological, diagnostic and surgical solutions that give professionals greater confidence in patient diagnosis and more choice over treatment options.
Sonata Fibroid Ablation System is part of the Hologic Uterine Health Portfolio.

Targeted Fibroid Treatment
The Sonata treatment device combines a high-resolution intrauterine ultrasound probe for imaging with a handpiece for scalable volumetric radiofrequency ablation for targeted treatment of symptomatic fibroids.
1. See: Fibroids are located from inside the uterus.
2. Target: Ablation is planned using the SMART Guide, a graphical real-time overlay on the ultrasound image. This includes several safety features and does not require any manual measurements.
3. Treat: Needle electrodes are inserted into the indicated location of the fibroid and RF-energy is delivered for volumetric ablation.
The Sonata System1
The Sonata treatment device consists of a reusable ultrasound probe connected to a single-use handpiece that delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy to ablate fibroids transcervically. Additional components include a cart, RF generator, a SMART tablet, SMART OS guidance software and accessories.
Setting Margins of Ablation in Real Time
The SMART OS guide technology overlays graphical indicators on the ultrasound image to help target fibroids and accurately position the introducer and needle electrodes, while the ablation zone and thermal safety border help protect adjacent tissue.1
